MARY'S POUND CAKE 
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
1/2 cup shortening (Crisco)
3 cups sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
6 eggs
1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 325°F.

Cream butter and shortening thoroughly. Add sugar slowly, 1 cup at a time, creaming thoroughly after each cup of sugar. Add eggs 2 at a time, beating well after each two eggs. Sift flour before measuring. Measure flour, baking powder, and salt and sift together. Add flour alternately with milk beginning and ending with flour. Cake will be moister if flour is added with mixer set on about 3 or low medium.

Pour into angel food pan and bake at 325°F for 1 1/2 hours. Do not open oven during baking time. Keep people out of kitchen while cake is baking.
