QUICK, CRUNCHY SWEET PICKLES 
4 qt. sliced cucumbers (about 8 med. size), sliced 1/4" thick
1 c. vinegar
3 c. water
5 c. sugar
1 onion, cut fine
2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. pickling spice
2 tsp. powdered alum
1 tsp. cloves

Put cucumber in cold mixture, then bring to a boil for five minutes. Fill jars and seal. Recipe works well to make one fourth of the recipe, using two medium size cucumbers to fill one pint jar. Keep refrigerated after cooling.
