JOHNSON'S TEMPTATION 
herring
potatoes, cut into strips
onions, cut into strips
1 1/2 deciliter cream

Fry onions in butter or oil. Place potatoes in bottom of oiled 9 x 13-inch pan. Be sure to cover bottom. Layer onions on top to cover potatoes. Next, layer herring. Continue layering until top of pan is reached. Place in a 200°F oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove pan from oven and pour in cream. Cover with foil and bake an additional 30 to 45 minutes or until potatoes are cooked through.
