1/2 c. soft shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/3 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix shortening, sugar, and egg. Sift remaining ingredients together and into first mixture. Roll into balls and into mixture of 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 tablespoon sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 5-7 minutes. 2 1/2 dozen.
