HOT APPLE TURNOVERS
3 Red Delicious apples, cored & sliced
1/4 c. cranberry nectar (like juice concentrate, no sugar added)
1/8 c. red Burgundy wine (Kosher)
1/8 c. plus 2 tsp. apple juice concentrate, defrosted from frozen
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. grated nutmeg
1/2 tsp. powdered cinnamon
1 pkg. (2 sheets) Thin Thin bread, cut into sq. approximately 10
1 egg white
1/3 c. raisins (optional because of additional calories)

Place sliced apples in saucepan. Add cranberry nectar, wine, apple juice concentrate, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon. Simmer uncovered, for 10-15 minutes, or until apples are tender and rosy colored. Remove apples. Thicken juice left in pan with 1 teaspoon cornstarch that has been dissolved in cold water and heat until mixture clarifies slightly.

Spoon approximately 1/4 cup of the apple mixture into the center of each Thin Thin bread square. Fold the bread squares, corner to corner, to form triangles and seal the edges with egg white.

Option - make Strudel by rolling up the bread with the apples in the center. Place the turnovers on a non-stick baking sheet and brush the tops lightly with apple juice concentrate. Bake in a preheated oven (400 degrees) for 15 minutes until the bread is crisp and turnovers are slightly puffed. Makes 10 servings - Each serving has approximately 92 calories!
