SWEDISH COFFEE CAKE | |
3/4 c. white sugar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. salt 1/3 c. shortening 1 beaten egg 1 tsp. orange rind (grated) 3 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 c. sifted flour 3/4 c. milk 1 tbsp. vanilla TOPPING: 3/4 c. light brown sugar 3 tbsp. melted butter 3 tbsp. flour 1/2 c. or 3/4 c. broken walnuts Cream sugar and butter. Add egg and vanilla. Sift and mix with dry ingredients. Add to sugar/butter mix. Beat 2 minutes. Grease and flour 9 inch square pan. Pour in half of batter. Add 1/2 of topping. Pour other half of batter. Add other half of topping. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes until light golden brown. (Don't overbake.) |
