CANDY BAR COOKIES 
butter, softened
1 c. butterscotch flavored chips
1/2 c. light corn syrup
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
5 c. Cheerios cereal
1 1/2 c. miniature marshmallows
1 tbsp. shortening
1 pkg. (5 3/4 oz.) milk chocolate chips

Butter square pan, 8 x 8 x 2 inches or 9 x 9 x 2 inches. Heat butterscotch chips, corn syrup, butter and vanilla in 3 quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until butterscotch chips are melted and mixture is smooth. Remove from heat. Stir in cereal and miniature marshmallows until well coated. Press evenly in pan, using buttered back of spoon; cool.

Heat shortening and chocolate chips in 1 quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth. Spread chocolate over cereal in square pan. Refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour. Remove from refrigerator 10 minutes before cutting. Cut into 2 x 1 1/4 inch bars. 24 bars.
