SHOO - FLY CAKE 
4 c. flour
2 c. light brown sugar
1 c. butter
1 c. table syrup
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. boiling water

Combine flour, brown sugar, and butter. Work into crumbs. Reserve 1 1/2 cups for topping. Mix together syrup, baking soda, and water. Add the crumbs to the syrup mixture. Mix well. Batter will be thin. Pour into a greased and floured 8 x 12 inch pan. Sprinkle with reserved crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
