BREAD PUDDING DELUXE | |
2 c. milk, scalded 2 tbsp. melted butter 1 c. stale bread, cut in 1/2 inch cubes 1/3 c. sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. almond extract 2 eggs Shredded coconut or raisins (optional) Combine milk, butter and bread cubes in greased baking dish. Add sugar, salt and flavorings to eggs and beat slightly - fold into bread-milk mixture and fold in coconut or raisins, if desired. Place in pan of hot water and bake in 350 degree oven for 45-50 minutes or until firm. Serves 6. VANILLA SAUCE FOR BREAD PUDDING DELUXE: 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. boiling water 1 tbsp. cornstarch 2 tbsp. butter 1 tsp. vanilla 1/4 tsp. salt Mix sugar and cornstarch. Add boiling water gradually, stirring constantly. Boil 5 minutes. Remove from fire, add butter, vanilla and salt. Spoon over pudding before serving. |
