SUGAR COOKIES OR TEA CAKES 
1 c. Crisco
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. nutmeg
4 tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
4 eggs
1 tbsp. grated lemon rind
4 c. flour

Combine Crisco, salt, lemon rind and nutmeg. Add sugar and cream well. Add beaten eggs and milk, mixing well. Sift flour with baking powder and soda. Add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Drop by teaspoons on greased cookie sheet. Flatten cookies by stamping with bottom of flat glass dipped in water. Sprinkle cookies with sugar.

Bake at 375°F for 8 to 10 minutes.

Makes 4 to 6 dozen cookies.
