ROAST IN FOIL 
3 lb. California roast or lg. chuck roast
1 env. onion soup mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup (undiluted)
1/2 can red wine (optional)

Place a piece of aluminum foil (heavy weight) large enough to wrap your roast in. Place roast on foil; sprinkle with onion soup mix and spread mushroom soup over the top of all. (Pour wine over roast if desired.) Wrap in the foil and seal well.

Place in preheated oven at 375 degrees and bake for about 2 1/2 hours. When tender, remove meat onto serving plate and you will find wonderful brown gravy of the right consistency and flavor. Just scrape the foil and serve. Serve with mashed potatoes or rice. Excellent for a Sunday dinner.
