CRISP PASTEL COOKIES 
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 c. butter, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 pkg. (3 oz.) fruit flavored gelatin
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder

Heat oven at 4009 degrees. Mix sugar, shortening, butter, eggs, vanilla and gelatin (dry). Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Shape dough into 3/4 inch balls. Place 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with bottom of glass dipped in sugar. Bake 6-8 minutes. About 5 dozen cookies.
