1 box chocolate cake mix
1/3 cup sugar
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
1 egg, beaten
1 (6 oz.) pkg. mini chocolate chips

Mix cake mix according to package directions and pour into paper-lined muffin tins, about 2/3 full.

Cream sugar and cream cheese until smooth, then add egg and mix well. Add chocolate chips. Drop 1 teaspoonful of cream cheese mixture onto each cupcake.

Bake cupcakes according to package directions. When finished baking, the "surprise" filling will be in the middle of each cupcake.

If desired, frost tops with your favorite frosting.

Makes about 24-30 cupcakes.
