HUNGARIAN TYPE GOULASH | |
1 1/2 lbs. ground round 1 lg. onion 1 lg. green pepper 1 lg. can tomato sauce 1 lg. can tomatoes, sliced 1 tbsp. salt 1 tbsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. black pepper 1/2 bay leaf 1/2 tsp. paprika, pinch of oregano & mace 2 c. elbow macaroni Brown meat and 1/3 of onion in large kettle; drain if necessary. Add tomato sauce and tomatoes and remainder of onion (chopped). Add salt, sugar, black pepper and bay leaf. Add pint of water. Bring to a boil. Cook 1/2 hour on medium heat. Add chopped green pepper, oregano, mace, paprika and sugar. Turn heat to low and simmer for 1 hour. Add water if necessary, salt and pepper to taste. Cook macaroni separately and add to mixture. Cool; let set overnight and reheat. |
