CHARLOTTE'S GOULASH STEW | |
6 tbsp. shortening 1 lb. beef chuck, in portions 2 chopped onions 4 c. water 3 tbsp. tomato paste 3 tbsp. paprika 1 tbsp. caraway seeds 2-3 garlic cloves, crushed 1 1/2 tsp. dried marjoram 1 tsp. finely grated lemon peel 1 tsp. sugar Flour to thicken Melt shortening, brown meat in batches. Remove. Saute onions slightly. Return meat. Add water. Scrape brown from bottom. Stir in tomato paste, paprika, caraway, garlic, marjoram, lemon peel, and sugar. Cover and simmer about 2 hours. 6 servings. |
