3/4 c. boiling water
1 c. chopped dates
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Pour boiling water over dates, let stand while mixing other ingredients. Mix together butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, flour, cocoa, soda, and salt. Add dates, stir, add nuts and chocolate chips. Bake in greased tube pan for 45 to 60 minutes at 350 degrees. Very Good!
