APPLE SLICES 
CRUST:

2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. shortening
1 tsp. lemon juice
2 beaten egg yolks
1/2 c. water

FILLING:

5-6 tart cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced (5-6 c.)
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

GLAZE:

1 c. confectioners' sugar
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. milk

Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in shortening mixing until crumbly. Sprinkle mixture of lemon juice, egg yolks and water over flour mixture. Blend in lightly. Divide pastry in 2 parts and roll to fit 9x13 inch pan.

Arrange apple slices in the crust-lined pan, then sprinkle the apples with mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Roll remaining dough to fit top of pan, seal edges. Cut steam vents in crust and bake for 30-40 minutes at 400 degrees.

While still warm, frost with glaze. Recipe easily doubled in a 12x18 inch pan.
