APPLESAUCE CAKE | |
4 (6 oz.) boxes Zweiback teething toast (can be found in cracker section of the grocery store) 1 c. sugar 1 (32 oz.) jar applesauce, chilled 3 cubes butter Crush Zweiback very fine, should be sand-like. Mix sugar with Zweiback and set aside. Melt butter over low heat. Pour Zweiback and sugar mixture into butter. Stir until all of crumb mixture is covered with butter. (Mixture should be consistency to form a crust.) On serving dish, layer crust and applesauce mixture (crust first, then applesauce). Crust should be at top and bottom. Use leftover crumbs to cover sides. Chill for 2 hours. Serve with whip cream, vanilla ice cream or alone. |
