GUM DROP COOKIES 
2 sticks butter
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar

Cream together. Add 1 egg to this and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix together and add to creamed mixture. 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cream of tartar 1/4 tsp. salt

Put bowl in refrigerator (15 minutes), then roll out in 2 inch diameter roll. Chill for an hour (wrap in waxed paper, 12 inches long). Slice in 1/4 inch slices. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Have ready, 1 cup gum drops - slice in half and put about 2 on each cookie. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
