SALINAS VALLEY VEGETABLE SOUP 
3 qts. water
1/2 jar Spice Island beef stock base
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 tsp. basil
1 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. thyme
1 tsp. dried parsley
1 tsp. marjoram
3 zucchinis, sliced
1 lg. onion, chopped
Grated Romano cheese
1 tsp. baking soda
15 1/2 oz. stewed tomatoes
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. salt
3 stalks celery, sliced
3 carrots, sliced
3 med. red potatoes, diced
1 head cauliflower, broken into pieces
1 bunch broccoli, chopped into pieces

Boil water. Add beef stock, tomatoes, tomato sauce, seasonings, soda, celery, carrots, onions, and potatoes. Simmer 30 minutes. Add the cauliflower and broccoli. Cook 15 minutes. Add zucchini and cook 10 minutes more. Serve with Romano cheese.

1 cup noodles (broken) or macaroni can be added last 10 to 15 minutes.
