TEXAS COBBLER 
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 cup milk
1 (21 oz.) can fruit pie filling (any flavor)
1/3 cup sugar, for sprinkling

Melt butter in a 9x13-inch baking pan in a 350°F oven. To prevent browning, remove pan from oven when butter has melted.

Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and milk with wire whisk until well blended.

Pour batter over melted butter. Do NOT stir batter!

Drop spoonfuls of pie filling over batter.

Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes, then sprinkle cobbler with 1/3 cup sugar. Bake for 15 more minutes or until top of cobbler is light golden brown.

NOTES:

 • If using apple pie filling, try adding 1 tablespoon of cinnamon to the batter and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon to the sugar sprinkle topping!

 • Any fresh fruit or summer berries may be substituted in this recipe. Lightly coat 3 cups of fresh berries or diced fruit with 1 cup of sugar. Let mixture stand for 5 to 10 minutes before adding to batter.
