QUAKER'S BEST OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 1/4 c. butter
3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
3 c. Quaker Oats

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Beat butter and sugars until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add combined flour, baking soda, salt and spices; mix well. Stir in oats. Drop by tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake for 8 or 9 minutes for chewy cookie, 10 to 11 minutes for crisp cookie. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet remove to wire rack. Store tightly covered.
