APPLE DUMPLINGS 
1 1/2 c. maple syrup
2 c. hot water
2 tbsp. butter
1/8 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3 tbsp. sugar
3 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. milk
1 c. finely chopped apples

Boil syrup, water, 2 tablespoons butter and salt for 3 minutes. Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in mixing bowl. Cut in 3 tablespoons butter until mixture is mealy. Blend in milk. Stir in chopped apple. Drop in hot syrup mixture, cover and boil for 10 minutes. Drop by tablespoonful. Serve with ice cream.
