1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 c. sifted all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. canned applesauce
1 (6 oz.) bag semi sweet chocolate pieces
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Confectioners' sugar

Cream shortening and granulated sugar until light. Add eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with applesauce, beating after each addition until smooth.

Add remaining ingredients, except confectioners' sugar. Spread mixture in greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 40 minutes. Cool in pan on cooling rack; sift confectioners' sugar lightly on top.
