BAVARIAN COFFEE CAKE | |
1/2 c. milk, scalded and cooled 1/4 c. sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 2 beaten eggs 1 yeast cake (dissolved in 1/2 c. lukewarm water) 3 tbsp. butter 3 1/2 c. flour 1/4 tsp. mace Mix together and beat with a spoon. Let rise until dough has doubled. Then take half of dough and roll out in thin sheet. Spread with melted butter. Sprinkle with granulated sugar, cinnamon, raisins or currants and citron. Roll lengthwise and place on pie plate in a circle. Let rise again double in bulk. Before baking, snip top with scissors. Bake 25 minutes in medium oven (350-375 degrees). Ice while warm. |
