APPLES IN BLOOM 
6 or 8 apples (cooking type)
2 c. water
1 c. sugar (scant)
2 tbsp. red cinnamon candies
1/2 pt. whipping cream
Marshmallows (miniature)
Nutmeats (English walnuts)

Cook the sugar and water and red candies a few minutes. Scrub cooking apples; cut top and bottoms off. Core, don't peel. Place in the syrup and cook on very low flame, turning occasionally. Take care not to cook apples to a mush.

When tender, place on individual dessert dishes. Cool; stuff core with nutmeats and marshmallows. Chill and top with whipped cream. Add a little sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla to the whipped cream.
