CREAMED ONIONS | |
2 (16 oz. each) pkg. sm. white onions 1 c. water 3 (1 oz. each) pkg. white sauce mix 2 c. half and half Dash of ground white pepper Pinch of ground nutmeg Cook onions in water according to package directions. Drain, reserving cooking liquid. In a medium size saucepan mix onion liquid, white sauce mix, half and half, pepper and nutmeg. Stir over medium heat until sauce boils and thickens. Remove from heat; stir in onions. Serve, or pour into a 2 quart casserole. Cover and refrigerate overnight. To serve: Heat oven to 375 degrees. Bake 20- 25 minutes until bubbly and top is browned. Makes 10 servings. |
