GRANDMA KYLLO'S OATMEAL BREAD 
3/4 c. oatmeal
4 tbsp. shortening
3 tbsp. anise seed (optional)
2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. molasses

Mix above ingredients, over them pour 1 pint boiling water and let stand until cool. Add 1 cake yeast dissolved in 1/3 cup warm water. Then add 5 1/2 cups flour (more if necessary). Knead thoroughly, being careful not to add more flour than needed to keep the dough from sticking to the board. Let rise double in bulk in warm place. Knead into 2 large loaves and let rise again until double. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes.
