GRANDMA MICKAN'S BREAD 
1 pkg. yeast
1 tbsp. bacon drippings (or butter)
1/2 tsp. salt
4 1/2 c. flour
Water as needed
1 tsp. sugar

Mix yeast, sugar and salt. Gradually add 1/2 cup lukewarm water. Add 1 cup flour; mix. Add bacon drippings. Fold in rest of flour. Knead. Add water as needed until dough is firm. Let rise, knead and let rise again. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Let bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes then turn oven to 400 degrees and bake until brown.
