CONFECTIONERS' SUGAR POUND CAKE 
1 c. Crisco
1 lb. confectioners' sugar
4 whole eggs
1 scant c. milk
3 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon juice
Pinch of salt

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add remaining ingredients and beat until smooth and creamy. Bake 1 hour or more at 350 degrees F. until golden brown and toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in the pan before turning onto a plate.
