CRANBERRY FRUIT NUT BREAD 
2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Sift together. Then cut in:

1/4 c. shortening

Combine:

3/4 c. orange juice
1 tbsp. grated orange rind
1 well-beaten egg

Pour all at once into dry ingredients, mixing enough to dampen. Fold in:

1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 1/2 c. coarsely chopped cranberries

Pour into a generously greased loaf pan. Spread corner and sides slightly higher than center. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes until toothpick comes out clean. Remove from pan and cool. Store overnight for easy slicing. Makes one 9x5x3 inch loaf.

NOTE: If using frozen berries, do not thaw, chop frozen.
