BREAD AND BUTTER PUDDING 
6 slices white bread
1 c. raisins
3 tbsp. brown sugar

Remove the crusts from bread slices and butter each slice. Set aside.

CUSTARD:

3 eggs
1 egg yolk
3 tbsp. sugar
2 1/2 c. milk

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Arrange the bread slices in an ovenproof dish. Scatter the raisins and brown sugar over the top. Beat the eggs, egg yolk and sugar. Heat the milk to boiling and cool slightly. Stir the milk slowly into the egg mixture and pour through a strainer over the bread. Bake for 45 minutes, or until set.
