BAGNA CALDA 
(With Fresh Vegetables):

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. oil
2 garlic cloves, chopped
2 sm. cans anchovies

Put in a pan (an electric fry pan is good because heat can be controlled) and simmer all ingredients together for 5 minutes. Clean vegetables--celery, cabbage, lettuce, mushrooms and green pepper--and cut to bite size. Take a vegetable, dip into mixture and eat. Very good along with Vienna bread (which can also be dipped into mixture) and wine. Remember to keep the dip hot at all times.
