PEANUT BRITTLE CANDY
1 1/2 c. sugar
2/3 c. white Karo
2/3 c. hot water
3 tbsp. butter
2 c. raw peanuts
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cold water
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt

Cook the sugar, Karo and hot water together, stirring until it boils. Cover and boil 3 minutes. Remove cover and boil until it forms hard ball in water. Add butter and peanuts. Let simmer, stirring constantly until it reaches desired shade. Remove from fire and quickly stir in soda, cold water, vanilla and salt, which has been dissolved together. Mix thoroughly and pour out quickly on buttered pan. When cool, break into pieces. This recipe was in our old church cook book and was requested to be repeated.
