SWEET PICKLES 
2 c. vinegar
2 tbsp. salt
2 tbsp. pickling spices
2 tbsp. powdered alum

Wash cucumbers. Leave whole and pack in 1/2 gallon jar. Mix ingredients and pour over cucumbers. Finish filling jars with cold water and seal. Leave 2 months or longer.

When ready to take out, wash cucumbers and slice. Put in a large bowl with 2 cups of sugar. Put in refrigerator overnight. Place in smaller jars (pint or 1/2 pint) and seal.
