BREAD PUDDING 
Oven temperature at 350 degrees; time - 1 1/4 hours. Yield: 6 servings.

4 c. milk
2 c. bread cubes
3 eggs
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. butter

Scald the milk and pour it over the bread which has been cut into 1/2 inch cubes. Let stand 10 minutes. Beat the eggs slightly. Add the sugar, salt and vanilla to them. Put into a buttered baking dish and add the milk and bread cubes. Add the melted butter and stir to mix well. Place the dish in a shallow pan of boiling water. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/4 hours.

For Chocolate Bread Pudding, add 2 ounces of melted chocolate before the melted butter is put in.
