OUR FAVORITE BREAD PUDDING | |
2 c. dry bread, cubed 4 c. milk, scalded 2 eggs, lightly beaten 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 c. raisins (optional) 1 tsp. vanilla Soak bread cubes in milk until soft. Add eggs and remaining ingredients and to bread mixture. Mix thoroughly. Pour into greased baking dish and set it in a pan of hot water. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Serve warm or cold with any desired sauce. Serves 6 to 8. Chopped dates, figs or nuts may be added. For chocolate bread pudding melt 2 ounces chocolate over hot water and add to the soaked bread and milk mixture. |
