THE BOYS' POP-UP BREAD 
4 c. unsifted flour
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. oil
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs

Measure 2 cups of flour into a large bowl; stir in yeast. In saucepan, place milk, water, oil, sugar and salt. Heat just until warm. Add to flour and yeast in bowl and beat until smooth. Blend in eggs, 1 at a time. Add enough additional flour to make a stiff batter, beating until smooth and elastic. Knead dough by hand for 3 to 5 minutes. Divide dough in half and place into 2 well greased 1 pound coffee cans. Cover loosely with plastic wrap. Place in a warm spot for dough to rise. When dough has almost reached top of cans, remove plastic and bake in moderate oven, 375 degrees, for about 35 minutes, or until bread is well browned. Let cool in cans for 10 minutes before turning out onto rack to cool completely. Delicious served warm. Yield: 2 loaves.
