NEW FUDGE CAKE 
2 c. sifted Softasilk flour
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. soft shortening
1 1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
4 oz. chocolate, melted
1 c. nuts, cut up

Grease and flour 2 (8 or 9 inch) layer pans. Sift together dry ingredients. Add shortening, pour a little over half of the milk (mixed with vanilla). Beat 2 minutes and add remaining milk, eggs and melted chocolate. Beat 2 minutes and stir in nuts. Pour thin batter into pans. Bake 30 to 35 minutes at 350 degrees.

FUDGE FROSTING:

1 pkg. (1 c.) Nestle's semi-sweet chocolate morsels
2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
6 tbsp. evaporated milk

This looks EXACTLY like the recipe my mother used to make in the 50's and 60's. Question - on the Chocolate - is it Semisweet or Unsweetened chocolate that is used in the cake?
