DAD'S FAVORITE GINGER COOKIES 
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
2 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ginger

Cream shortening, sugar and egg, beating well. Sift dry ingredients together and add; mix well. Roll bits of dough the size of walnuts, roll in granulated sugar and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 350 degrees. Be sure to place balls 2" apart. Do not flatten! Cookies will flatten out and crack on top when done. NOTE: Refrigerate dough if too sticky to handle. Recipe can be doubled. Yield: 2 dozen cookies.
