OUR FAVORITE MEAT LOAF | |
1 tbsp. salad oil 1 lg. celery stalk, chopped 1 med. sized onion, chopped 2 lbs. ground beef 2 lg. eggs 2 c. bread crumbs 1/4 c. milk 2 tbsp. horseradish 1 1/2 tsp. salt (scant) Chili sauce 1 tbsp. spicy mustard Parsley sprigs for garnish Cook celery and onion in hot salad oil until tender. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In large bowl, mix ground beef, eggs, bread crumbs, milk, horseradish, salt, 1/4 cup chili sauce and cooked onion mixture. In 13"x9" baking dish shape meat mixture into loaf. Bake 45 minutes. Mix 1/2 cup chili sauce and mustard, spread over top of loaf and bake 15 minutes longer. Serves 8 to 10. Good hot or cold and left overs make terrific sandwiches. |
