DANISH CHRISTMAS CAKE 
1 c. butter
1 3/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. orange juice
2 (8 oz.) boxes dates, chopped
2 c. nuts, chopped
1 bottle (8 oz.) maraschino cherries, chopped
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. orange rind
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
3 eggs
3 c. flour

Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Coat fruit and nuts with part of flour. Add flour, salt and soda alternately with milk and vanilla, to creamed mixture. Add fruit and nuts. Bake in well greased and floured Bundt or tube pan for 1 1/2 hours. Check last 15 minutes so as not to overbake.
