TEXAS HASH 
2 lg. onions, sliced
3 buttons garlic, cut fine
2 green peppers, cut fine
3 tbsp. shortening
1 lb. ground round
2 c. canned tomatoes
1/2 c. uncooked rice
1 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
Mushrooms may be added

Cook onions, garlic and green peppers slowly in shortening until mixture is soft. Add meat, cook until it falls apart. Add tomatoes, rice, mushrooms and seasonings. Arrange in large casserole, cover and bake in moderate hot oven (350 degrees) for 45 to 60 minuets or until done. Serves 8.
