BLACK WALNUT LAYER CAKE | |
1 c. butter 2 c. sugar 3 c. all-purpose flour 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. milk 1 c. chopped black walnuts 4 eggs Cream the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together and stir into creamed mixture. Stir in the vanilla and milk. Add the black walnuts, then eggs and mix well. Pour into 3 greased and floured 9 inch round cake pans. Bake at 375 degrees until cake tests done. WHITE FUDGE FROSTING: 3 c. sugar 1 c. milk 1 stick butter 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. chopped black walnuts Combine the sugar and milk in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Cover the saucepan. Cook for 5 minutes, remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Cool. After cooled, beat until thickened. Spread on cake and sprinkle walnuts between layers and on top of cake. |
