1 c. flour (plain)
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. melted butter
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. cocoa
1 3/4 c. hot water

Sift first 5 ingredients, stir in milk, butter and vanilla. Pour into pan. Mix brown sugar and cocoa - sprinkle dry over top. Pour water over all - do not stir. Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees. (I usually double the recipe and use a deep 13x9 pan.) The cake rises to the top and there is hot fudge sauce underneath!
