8 c. Puffed Wheat cereal 1/2 c. walnut pieces 1/2 c. pecan pieces 1/2 c. dry roasted peanuts 1/2 c. butter 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar 1/4 c. light corn syrup 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. vanilla Combine first 4 ingredients in large bowl. Set aside. Melt butter in a medium saucepan, stir in brown sugar, corn syrup and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil on medium heat 5 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat, stir in soda and vanilla. Gradually pour hot syrup mixture over cereal, stirring well. Spoon mixture into buttered 15x10x1 inch jelly roll pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 15 minutes, cool completely in pan. Break into pieces and store in airtight container. |
