MY FATHER'S SCONES | |
2 c. flour 2 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 c. butter, cut up 2/3 c. buttermilk 1 lg. egg Optional: Add raisins, 1/2 c. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Grease cookie sheet. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large bowl. 1. With 2 knives cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Beat buttermilk and egg in small bowl. 2. Pour onto dry ingredients and stir with fork until mixture comes together. 3. On lightly floured surface, knead dough 5 or 6 times. Transfer to prepared cookie sheet. With floured hands, pat into an 8 inch circle. 4. Cut into 8 wedges with a long floured knife. (Do not separate.) Bake 14 to 16 minutes until golden. |
