GUMDROP JEWELS 
1 c. (2 sticks) butter
1 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. quick oats, uncooked
1 c. cut-up gumdrops
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter. Gradually add sugar and continue beating until blended. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine flour, soda, baking powder and salt. Gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in oats, gumdrops, and nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoonsful onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 12-14 minutes. Remove to wire rack to cool.
