WHEAT GERM HERB BALLS 
1 3/4 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
1/2 cup regular wheat germ
2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup softened butter
3/4 tsp. thyme leaves, crushed
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
wheat germ for topping

Combine flour and 1/2 cup wheat germ on wax paper. Stir to blend. Beat cheese, butter, thyme and mustard together until well-blended. Add blended dry ingredients to cheese mixture, mixing to combine. Shape into 1-inch balls. Dip half of each ball in remaining wheat germ. Place dipped-side up on ungreased baking sheets.

Bake at 400°F for 10-12 minutes until lightly browned. Remove from baking sheet. Cool on rack.

Makes 4 1/2 dozen appetizers.
