HOMEMADE WAFFLES 
2 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. shortening
2 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 c. milk
3 eggs, separated

Beat egg whites until stiffens and set aside. Sift dry ingredients; blend shortening into flour until it resembles cornmeal. Beat egg yolks and add milk; mix well. Add egg mixture to dry ingredients and beat only until blended. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake on a waffle iron.
